Clow Reed anticipated that a successor would eventually arise to take over their custody, leading him to seal them in Tomoeda where the strongest magical energy resided for this purpose. When Sakura opens the book, the cards manifest physically based on their elemental natures. Some cause chaos unintentionally, while others test the captor's worthiness through their specific abilities. This dynamic creates a central conflict where understanding each card's nature is just as important as possessing magical power to capture them successfully. Once all are captured, Clow Reed passes judgment on Sakura's success. The cards then undergo a permanent change in allegiance and design, reflecting their new bond with the Cardcaptor. This transition signifies the end of one era of magic and the beginning of another, ensuring the world remains protected under a new guardian.
